How To Properly Use Citation Management

The concept of citation management is a really powerful one. However, when used incorrectly, it may make a managerial position looks like a job for the President of the United States. It’s important that you impactio understand how citation management functions before you try to use it to keep your work in good standing.

Citation management involves keeping paper files on citations that are issued against a teacher, principal, principal investigator, or administrator. The citation file is made by the assistant principal and contains the student’s name, grade level, date of birth, name of the district or school district, and the name of the offending person or persons who issued the citation. However, the office does not store information on the parents, guardians, citation manager or custodians of the student.

Citation management works because the assistant principal alerts you to any problems. In addition, a student can be referred to counseling. This keeps pupils and teachers from acting out in class. However, the confidentiality of student information should be kept at the utmost.

When a student is referred to counseling, then the appropriate citation is put in the citation file. So as to maintain a citation up-to-date, any new information that is obtained is listed by the office. The office keeps records for a single year.

Many times, teachers who are pulled up for giving out multiple citations, will simply write a brief letter explaining the situation. This makes citation management a lot easier. In fact, many students can’t believe they have been cited for an infraction.

Notice of these citations have to be sent to the Office of Student Conduct within two business days. The office has to forward the note of the citation to the District Attorney’s Office, also.

When Manual Citations is issued, the student can be assigned a job manual. This work guide will inform the student about any violation that occurred.

If there is a breach, the Office of Student Conduct will send a letter out to the student. The student must then respond within ten business days. The letter should contain the essential information that was violated and how the crime occurred.

The disciplinary procedure is explained to the student. The student is advised if they must attend a formal hearing.

The Office of Student Conduct must inform the student that their appeal of the citation is in process. If the student meets all requirements, the student will be permitted to attend such hearings. If the student fails to attend the hearing, then the citation becomes an official record in the district.

The Office of Student Conduct should allow the student know if they will need to meet with a supervisor before meeting with the Dean of Students. The student is also advised to keep in contact with the Dean of Students, the Student Services Manager, and the Assistant Principal.
